Mudshark’s Brewing Co. is pleased to announce our 6th annual homebrew competition. The competition will take place on July 23, 2005. Judging will occur at Mudshark’s Brewing Co. 210 Swanson Ave. Lake Havasu City, AZ. This contest will be an AHA sanctioned competition with all beer, mead and cider styles accepted. Homebrew competition rules can be quite complicated and here we strive to simplify things.

• First your entry must be homebrewed, no Brew-on-premises or commercial entries allowed.
• Bottles must be 10 to 14 ounces in size, green or brown in color and free of all labels or identifying marks.
• No clear bottles or Grolsch Type Swing tops accepted.
• 2 bottles for each entry is required.
• Properly filled out bottle labels with brewer and entry info attached by rubber band on each entry (no tape) accompanied with properly filled out recipe forms.
• It is the responsibility of the entrant to include all pertinent information concerning their entry as required by the new 2004 BJCP guidelines.
• Entry fees are $6.00 dollars per entry, check or money orders made out to John Guffey, with no limit on the number of entries, however there is a limit of 4 entries per sub-category.
• It is also the responsibility of the brewer to enter their beer into the appropriate category.
• Entries should be shipped to arrive between July 1, 2005 and July 16, 2005: To Mudshark’s Brewing Co. C/O Bill Kimbrell 210 Swanson Ave. Lake Havasu City, AZ 86403. Hand carried entries should be dropped to the same address as above no later than Saturday, July 16, 2005.

Entries will be evaluated by two judges using 2004 BJCP guidelines and 50 point score sheets. Mudshark’s offers cash prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, best of show winners in both the beer and another for mead and cider. Cash prizes will be $150.00, $100.00, and $75.00 respectively. All first, second, and third place winners receive attractive ribbons signifying the event, these awards cost more but they show our commitment to the contest. First, second, and third place best of show will also receive recognition awards. In addition the Best of Show Winner for beer will have the opportunity to brew the winning beer at Mudshark’s.

Mead and Cider entries will be judged in a separate best of Mead and Cider round with first, second and third receiving nice awards for their efforts.

Entry forms can be found at www.beertown.org. Judging will begin at 11:00 am on July 23, 2005 at Mudshark’s in Lake Havasu City. As always we will need judges, so please come and enjoy the day and celebrate American Beer Month with us.
